METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING AND PROTECTING PULSED HIGH-POWER FIBER AMPLIFIER SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for controlling and protecting a high-power fiber amplifier system.SOLUTION: An electronic circuit for controlling a laser system composed of a pulsed light source and a high-power fiber amplifier is disclosed. The circuit is used to control the gain of the high-power fiber amplifier system such that each amplified output pulse has a predetermined pulse energy when the pulse width and repetition rate of an oscillator are changed. This also includes keeping the pulse energy constant when a pulse train is emitted. The circuit is also used to control the temperature of a pump diode of the high-power fiber amplifier such that the wavelength of the pump diode is held at an optimum absorption wavelength of the fiber amplifier when a diode current is changed. The circuit also provides a means for protecting the high-power fiber amplifier from damage due to loss of signals from the pulsed light source and from pulsed light source signals having insufficient injection energy.
