PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of providing identity authentication and tracking for a designated semiconductor chip that is formed on a multi-chip package (MCP) module where a first communication function is provided, or that is formed inside of the MCP module.SOLUTION: The method includes: providing a communication element 14 formed on the MCP base 10 where the communication element includes a memory unit for storing identification information; providing an electrical connection 16 between the communication element 14 and the designated semiconductor chip 12; accessing the information stored in the memory unit of the communication element 14 through the electrical connection 16; and providing the information stored in the communication element 14 to a system outside of the MCP module through the first communication function, wherein the information is used at least to track or authenticate the MCP module or the designated semiconductor chip 12 of the MCP module.
