PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sort unhulled rice suffering from Claviceps virens and normal unhulled rice in a sorting cylinder, and to automatically control feed quantity of unhulled rice to the sorting cylinder in accordance with the quantity of normal unhulled rice passed through the sorting cylinder and stored in a discharge hopper.SOLUTION: A sorting cylinder 3 is horizontally placed in a housing 2, unhulled rice is charged in a feeding hopper 6 situated on the starting end of sorting, and normal unhulled rice M is made to pass through the slit 4a of the sorting cylinder 3, thereby discharging from the finishing end of sorting the unhulled rice m suffering from Claviceps virens or foreign matter S left unpassed through the slit 4a. When the unhulled rice M in the discharge hopper 7 is stored by the prescribed amount, a sensor 13 detects the unhulled rice M. A solenoid 12 is driven by the detection signal, an automatic opening/closing shutter plate 10 is pushed down, and the feed of the unhulled rice M to the sorting cylinder 3 is restricted or stopped. When the unhulled rice M in the discharge hopper 7 flows down to a position which can not be detected by the sensor 13, the automatic opening/closing shutter plate 10 is raised to the initial position by the solenoid 12. |
