The present invention provides a method for transmitting the capability of a User Equipment (UE) for supporting multi-carrier Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO), a method and system for relocation and inter-system handover. Said method for transmitting the capability of the UE for supporting multi-carrier MIMO includes: when the UE supports multi-carrier, the capability of UE to support the number of downlink carriers configured as MIMO is carried in the interaction message interacted with a Radio Network Controller (RNC) and sent to the RNC; then according to the interaction message, the RNC obtains the capability of UE to support the number of downlink carriers configured as MIMO, and the RNC distributes resources for the UE according to the obtained capability of UE to support the number of downlink carriers configured as MIMO. The present invention enables the network side to acknowledge the capability of UE to support the number of downlink carriers configured as MIMO, and distribute resources reasonably according to the capability.
