Provided is a light-emitting device that is capable of improving light-use efficiency while reducing the cost of equipment on which the light-emitting device is installed. The disclosed light-emitting device includes: a base element (10) in which a filling groove (11) is formed, the filling groove (11) having open faces (11a) in the two faces thereof that oppose one another along one direction; a light-emitting element (2) that is provided on the bottom face of the filling groove (11); and a sealing material (3) that is filled in the filling groove (11) to seal the light-emitting element (2) and that is made of a transparent resin.
