PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber used to obtain a thermosetting resin molding material having excellent mechanical strength; a method for producing the anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber; a molding material containing the anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber and a thermosetting resin; and a method for producing the molding material.SOLUTION: The molding material includes the thermosetting resin and 10-900 pts.wt. of the anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber relative to 100 pts.wt. of the thermosetting resin, wherein the anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber is anion-modified with a carboxylic acid represented by formula (I) X-(CH)-COOH or a salt thereof, in the presence of a base. In formula (I), X represents a halogen atom and n represents 1 or 2. |
