PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and reliably detect the floating of paper, particularly, the high-speed floating of the rear end of the paper by a simple structure.SOLUTION: This paper floating detection device 300 comprises a paper pressing roller 42 for pressing paper P on a conveying surface. In the paper floating detection device, a light emitting unit 310 and a light receiving unit 312 which are disposed so as to face each other with a conveying path interposed therebetween are disposed near the downstream side of the paper pressing roller 42 in the conveying direction so that the optical axis L of a detection beam emitted from the light emitting unit 310 and received by the light receiving unit 312 is generally perpendicular to the conveying direction. The paper floating detection device detects that the paper P to be conveyed shields the detection beam to detect the floating of the paper P from the conveying surface. A paper floating suppression means 320 which hardly floats a part of the rear end of the paper P to be conveyed in the lateral direction is installed between the paper pressing roller 42 in the conveying path and the position of the optical axis L of the detection beam. |
