PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing a control in accordance with the type of a developer container, even in the case of dispensing with a container presence/absence detecting means for detecting the presence/absence of the developer container.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the developer container constituted of any of a genuine product which is freely replaceably loaded to the image forming apparatus and includes a storage means, a genuine product which is packed in the image forming apparatus and does not include a storage means, and other products, configured to store a developer containing at least toner; a reading possibility determination means for determining at least whether it is possible to read information stored in the storage means of the developer container; a non-usage determination means for determining whether the image forming apparatus is not used yet or used; and a loading confirmation means for urging the user to confirm whether the developer container is loaded to the image forming apparatus when determined by the reading possibility determination means that it is not possible to read the information, alternatively, when determined by the non-usage determination means that the image forming apparatus is not used yet. |
