PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique effective for simplifying the structure of a side collision sensor for a vehicle, and enhancing its detection accuracy.SOLUTION: The side collision sensor includes a sensor housing; a detecting coil 130a which is housed in the sensor housing so as to extend in the front and rear directions of the vehicle, and into which an alternating current is caused to flow; a rotating shaft 141 which is housed in the sensor housing and extends side by side with the detecting coil 130a, in the front and rear directions of the vehicle; an inertial mass body 140 allowed to rotate around the rotating shaft 141 on a rotation plane which crosses the coil extension plane of the detecting coil 130a; a part to be detected which is conductive and is provided in the inertial mass body 140 so as to face the detecting coil 130a, and whose distance from the detecting coil 130a changes with the rotation of the inertial mass body 140; an output part for outputting information on the rotation, based on a change in the impedance of the detecting coil 130a generated by a change in the distance between the detecting coil 130a and the part to be detected, when the inertial mass body 140 rotates. |
