PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device reducing deterioration in display quality due to a change in voltage applied to a display element and the feeling of incompatibility with a paper medium when switching display.SOLUTION: The display device has a display controller for switching and displaying a first still image display period including the writing period of a first image signal and the holding period of the first image signal and a second still image display period including the writing period of a second image signal and the holding period of the second image signal, and varying the length of the writing period of the first still image display period and the length of the writing period of the second still image display period.
