Insulating material is sandwiched between one edge of a structural 2 X 4 and one edge of a structural 2 X 2 to form a 2 X 6 wall stud with a thermal break. While shapes, sizes and compositions of the structural members can vary, the insulated wall stud has the advantage of being the size of conventional lumber reducing installation cost. |
