PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiral polyacetylene film which has distribution in film density and in refractive indexes, and to provide a method for forming the same.SOLUTION: The method for forming the spiral polyacetylene film in which a main chain has spiral structure has a process of obtaining the spiral polyacetylene film having distribution in refractive indexes by blending the spiral polyacetylene in which the main chain has clockwise spiral structure with the spiral polyacetylene in which the main chain has counterclockwise spiral structure and then by subjecting a mixture to film formation. The spiral polyacetylene film which is obtained by the method for forming the spiral polyacetylene film and which has distribution in refractive indexes is also provided.
