PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of smoothly transferring a developer from a lower developer storage chamber to an upper developer storage chamber while reducing an axial stress to the developer, and an image forming apparatus including the developing device.SOLUTION: The developing device includes: a developer holding body 52; the upper developer storage chamber 53a; the lower developer storage chamber 53b; an upper developer agitation conveyance member 56; and a lower developer agitation conveyance member 57. The upper developer storage chamber 53a and the lower developer storage chamber 53b are communicated with each other via communication ports 53D and 53U opened at both axial ends, while in an edge region Re on the conveyance directional downstream side of the lower developer storage chamber 53b, a transfer guiding means is arranged for guiding a two-component developer G from the lower developer storage chamber 53b to the upper developer storage chamber 53a while reducing an axial contact pressure to the two-component developer G in comparison with that in an upstream side region Ru. |
