PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film solar cell, superior from the viewpoint of power generation efficiency and production efficiency, with an internal series structure having less dead space and formed by few production processes, and to provide a method for manufacturing the cell.SOLUTION: The thin-film solar cell includes a plurality of back electrodes isolated by a plurality of isolation grooves formed on an insulating substrate; photoelectric conversion layers formed on the back electrodes, buffer layers formed on the photoelectric conversion layers; insulating layers formed on the buffer layers; and transparent electrodes formed on the insulating layers. A plurality of solar cell units composed of the photoelectric conversion layers, the buffer layers, the insulating layers, and the transparent electrodes are formed by a plurality of opening grooves formed in different positions from the isolation grooves and with a predetermined interval, and reaching the back electrodes from the transparent electrodes. In each solar cell unit, portions of the photoelectric conversion layer, the buffer layer, and the insulating layer, facing against the opening grooves are reformed to form a contact layer conducting the back electrode and the transparent electrode, and each solar cell unit is electrically connected in series by the contact layers. |
