A wireless communication system comprises a plurality of transmitter apparatuses and a receiver apparatus that has a plurality of reception antennas. Each of the transmitter apparatuses generates, as a reference signal, a signal, which is obtained by adding different time shifts to a signal known between the transmitter apparatus and the receiver apparatus, and multiplexes a data signal with the reference signal for transmission. The receiver apparatus separates the reference signals multiplexed in the respective signals received from the plurality of transmitter apparatuses, and estimates propagation path information from the reference signals transmitted by use of frequencies the signal spectrum of which are partially or entirely common to one another. The receiver apparatus then decodes, based on the estimated propagation path information, the data signal. In this way, it is possible to provide a wireless communication system or the like that utilizes an uplink MU-MIMO transmission system allowing a partial spatial multiplexing of signal spectrum without adding any significant changes to an existing user transmitter apparatus. |
