The device (1) has a housing (3) provided with a collection of light-passage opening and an external lighting passage opening (14), and a collection light channel for guiding light within the housing. A foreign lighting light channel (13) guides the light within the housing to a target object e.g. dial. A filter e.g. color filter, is arranged in the foreign channel. The filter is transmitted such that the filter passes less than 10 percentage of illuminating light e.g. daylight, of a light source e.g. LED, and more than 10 percentage of foreign illuminating light of the source. The color filter is designed as a high-pass filter.
