PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose oil by differentiating the degradation anomaly and the viscosity anomaly.SOLUTION: The device is used for diagnosing abnormality of oil, which is a lubricant of an internal combustion engine. The device detects or estimates oil viscosity while it detects or estimates oil degradation. The device determines either degradation anomaly or viscosity anomaly in the oil based on the degradation level or viscosity level that are detected or estimated.
