The reel includes means for tearing the packaging and the bases that cover the lateral ends of the cylindrical reel-forming body, which tearing means do not affect the material of the reel itself. When the packaging is torn, the paper reel is released and the packaging is removed, leaving the reel is ready for use. The aforementioned means for tearing the lateral face and/or the bases of the packaging extend from one of the bases of the reel along the reel generators and via the opposite base so as to terminate at the starting face. The invention provides a considerable saving in terms of reel unpacking times prior to use, as well as in terms of reel paper compared to traditional means used to package reels.
