The invention relates to a method for helping to position a component (30) on the wall (23) of a structural element, comprising the steps of: - drawing an image to be projected onto the wall, based on a virtual model of the structure and the position of a projector with respect to the structure, the image comprising an outline (26A) delimiting a region for implanting the component on the wall, the latter serving as a projection substrate for the outline, and an additional motif providing information for positioning the component with respect to the direction (n) normal to the wall, the motif corresponding to a predefined set of points on the component, the latter serving as a projection substrate for the motif; projecting the image onto the structural element by means of the projector; placing the base of the component inside the outline projected onto the wall; and, while maintaining contact between the component and the structural element, modifying the position of the component with respect to the direction normal to the wall until the predefined set of points on the component coincides with the motif.
