PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify processing for detecting motion, and to reduce the load.SOLUTION: A video display device has a body case 9, input terminals 11-15 provided at this body case 9, an input part 16 taking a video signal input from this input terminal, and a motion detecting means 46 comparing video data between frames of the video signal from this input part 16 and discriminates whether this video is a still picture or a moving picture, also includes a display image generating part 18 generating a display image based on the discriminated result of this motion detecting means 46, and a display part 10 displaying the display image from this display image generating part 18, wherein the motion detecting means 46 has a comparing point setting means 55 of video data between frames of the video signal and a comparison means 56a, 56b comparing video data in this comparing points, and a discriminating means 57 discriminating whether the video is a still picture or a moving picture from the result of this comparing means 56a, 56b. |
