PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decomposition method for a storage battery which can safely and surely take out an electrode body from an enclosed container at the time of decomposing the storage battery and is easy to separate after decomposition and is excellent on recyclability.SOLUTION: The decomposition method for a storage battery includes a breaking gap putting process of preparing a breaking gap, which is not penetrated inside the enclosing container, on an outer surface of a container body of an enclosing container of the storage battery; an enclosing container breaking process of opening by breaking the enclosing container with the breaking gap by adding external force to the enclosing container; an enclosing container separation process of exposing the electrode body; and an electrode body taking-out process of taking out the electrode body from the enclosing container by the movement for separating the electrode body and the enclosing container.
