PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dimensions with a lower amount of operation without decreasing the accuracy of pattern recognition.SOLUTION: A priority calculation part 33 calculates priority indicating the degree of contribution of feature dimensions for the pattern recognition for each feature dimension of a feature vector for a predetermined pattern of which class is identified in advance. A feature dimension selection part 34 selects the feature dimension based on the priority calculated by the priority calculation part 33. A feature dimension extraction part 35 extracts the feature dimension selected by the feature dimension selection part 34 from the feature vector for the predetermined pattern, and thus creates a low-dimension feature vector for the predetermined pattern. This invention is applicable to, for example an image processing apparatus for image recognition. |
