PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze oil such as machine oil contained in soil by a simple method which does not affect environmental pollution.SOLUTION: A method for analyzing oil in soil includes: a step of dissolving oil contained in soil in a lower alcohol by mixing a soil sample with the water soluble lower alcohol such as ethanol; a step of filtering the mixture to collect the filtrate; a step of promoting homogeneous separation of oil particles in the mixture by chemically and physically stirring the whole solution by chemically generating carbon dioxide gas from the lower alcohol-water mixture by adding a carbonate of alkali metal or alkali earth metal, water and inorganic acid to the filtrate; and a step of measuring the scattering condition of thereby deposited oil particles using a transmission photometer. |
