The method involves diagonally immersing a basket construction (3) into sea water with a rescue device for rescuing a person (4), where the basket construction is connected with a remote-controlled autonomous rescue vehicle. The person accommodated in the basket construction is fixed. Vital parameters and environmental temperatures of the rescued person are measured. Passive and/or active heat conduction is carried out based on the measured vital parameters and the environmental temperatures of the rescued person. An independent claim is also included for a device for rescuing a person in sea water using a remote-controlled autonomous rescue vehicle.
