PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain more excellent appearance compared with the conventional one concerning the edge of an object in an image which is magnified or whose resolution is improved.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a data storage part 104 for storing edge area data 7E indicating the position of the edge of a character in an original image; an edge area re-calculating part 105 for obtaining the edge which is the edge of the character and has the same width as that before magnification when the original image is magnified α times; and an edge area correcting part 106 for performing processing to remove the edge with respect to an area enclosed by the obtained edge.
