PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly protect an occupant at a passenger seat depending on whether a seat belt is fastened or not.SOLUTION: An airbag 11 includes: a right shoulder bag part 35 facing the right shoulder of the occupant; a left shoulder bag part 36 facing the left shoulder of the occupant; and a recessed part 37 dented for the chest of the occupant in the middle of these right shoulder bag part 35 and left shoulder bag part 36. A tether means 40, which can be pulled in the direction of making the right shoulder bag part 35 and left shoulder bag part 36 approach each other, is provided outside an airbag body part 31. A lock receiving part of a strap 43 of the tether means 40 is locked on the locking part of an actuator. When the occupant does not fasten the seat belt, the occupant is constrained with sufficient reaction force by locking the strap 43 and by arranging the airbag 11 so as to contact the occupant entirely. To the occupant fastening the seat belt, the occupant is softly constrained with comparatively small and suitable reaction force by arranging the airbag 11 so as to contact mainly the shoulder of the occupant and by making the recessed part 37 face the chest. |
