PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel plant extract derived elastase activity inhibitor having good safety.SOLUTION: The elastase activity inhibitor includes an extract of leaves of Alpinia speciosa (Wendl.) K. Shum in the genus Alpinia of the family Zingiberaceae as an active ingredient. A cosmetic or a skin external preparation including the elastase activity inhibitor inhibits the activity of elastase by applying to the skin and does not cause excessive decomposition of elastin to maintain the flexibility and resilience of the skin and senile signs such as sagging/wrinkles are improved. This cosmetic or skin external preparation has an excellent effect as an anti-aging cosmetic and a wrinkle/sagging improving cosmetic. |
