PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor suppressing decrease in the resolution of an image.SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor includes a protective layer having a first region present on the outer circumference side, a second region present nearer to the substrate than the first region and having a higher atomic ratio [oxygen/gallium] than in the first region, and a third region present nearer to the substrate than the second region and having a lower atomic ratio [oxygen/gallium] than in the second region. When the optical absorption edge energy, which is obtained in each region at a wavelength where the absorption coefficient is 1×10(m), in the first, second and third regions is denoted by FE1, FE2 and FE3, respectively, the energies satisfy relational formulas (1):0.5eV≤FE2-FE1≤1.5eV, (2):0.5eV≤FE2-FE3≤1.5eV and (3) FE3≥FE1. |
