PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a distance up to an obstacle to be accurately measured in a low-cost and simple configuration in an obstacle detection device using signal waves such as light, radio wave, and ultrasonic wave.SOLUTION: An obstacle detection device 1 includes a first frequency generation section 11 to generate a transmission signal having a first frequency, a transmitting section 12 that generates a signal wave by performing the amplitude modulation of a carrier wave using the transmission signal to transmit the generated signal wave to a space, a receiving section 13 that receives a reflective wave of the signal wave to output it as a reception signal, a second frequency generation section 14 to generate a signal having a second frequency, a first mixing section 15 to output an intermediate frequency signal from the transmission signal and the signal having the second frequency, a second mixing section 16 to output an intermediate frequency signal from the reception signal and the signal having the second frequency, and a distance calculation section 17 to calculate a distance up to an obstacle based on two intermediate frequency signals obtained from each of the transmission signal and reception signal. Use of two intermediate frequencies ensures to obtain a distance accurately in a low-cost configuration. |
