PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain reliability of a focusing position to be determined from getting low, while keeping a speed required for AF at a high speed.SOLUTION: A digital camera 10 determines the focusing position by the AF of phase difference detection method, as to both a vertical view field and a horizontal view field, and determines the reliability in each of the determined focusing positions. Then, the AF of contrast detection method is executed as to a direction of higher reliability, and the focusing position determined by the AF of phase difference detection method as to the same direction is replaced with a more precise focusing position. A range where a focus lens moves when executing the AF of contrast detection method is a comparatively narrow range in the vicinity of the focusing position determined by the AF of phase difference detection method. |
