The invention provides a Universal Serial Bus (USB) network card for a Passive Optical Network (PON). The provided network card includes an optical interface (20), an optical-to-electric conversion module (21), a PON MAC chip (23), a ROM (27), a RAM (29) and a USB interface (25); the optical interface (20) is coupled with the optical-to-electric conversion module (21); the optical-electric conversion module (21) is connected to the PON MAC chip (23); the PON MAC chip (23) is connected to the USB interface (25), the ROM (27) and the RAM (29) respectively; the USB interface (25) is used for connecting a Personal Computer (PC); the PON MAC chip (23) is used for: taking a handshake with the PC via the USB interface (25) after the network card is started, obtaining operation-required software packets from the PC, and storing the obtained software packets in the RAM (29); parsing data from the optical-to-electric conversion module (21), discarding unuseful data, packing useful data as data in a USB protocol format, and transmitting the packed data to the PC via the USB interface (25). The invention also provides a processing method of a USB network card for a PON, thereby resolving the problem of complex data conversion caused by existing products with large volume and plenty of interfaces, facilitating user's operation and improving user's experience.
