The sterilization device (10) has a transport device (12) for transporting the packing container (1) into a receptacle (17) of a conveyor (15). The conveyor serves for delivering the packing container from an unsterilized area (29) of a packing machine (100) into a sterilized area (28). A transport unit (16) on its returning path towards transport device again attains operative connection with the sterilizing agent (5) in the sterilizing agent container (20) in such a way that the transport unit in the sterilizing area (25) dips into the sterilization agent of the sterilization container.
