Class 38(5) In an on-load transformer tap-changing switch wherein the movable contacts are mounted on an insulating cylinder Zi which is rolled on the inner surface of an outer insulating cylinder Za, the axes of the cylinders are kept parallel without the use of a shaft through the inner cylinder by 'means of inter-engaging gear teeth R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP> on the ends of the two cylinders. The inner cylinder is driven from a spring mechanism F by an eccentric crank E at its upper end, the lower end of the cylinder having an axial conical pin Z' engaging a similar pin Z<SP>2</SP> in the axis of the cylinder Za, so that the gears are urged together. Friction between the pins is reduced by mounting the pin Z' by twin ball bearings. Specification 710,183 is referred to. |
