PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner superior in charging characteristics, durability, charge environmental stability, and suitability for granulation; to provide an image forming method and to provide a process cartridge.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing the toner includes: a dissolution/dispersion liquid-preparing step of dissolving and dispersing a toner substance into an organic solvent, wherein the toner substance includes a charge control agent and at least one of a binder resin and a binder resin precursor; an emulsification/dispersion liquid-preparing step of emulsifying and dispersing the resultant dissolved and dispersed liquid by adding it to an aqueous medium; and an organic solvent-removing step of removing an organic solvent from the resultant emulsified and dispersed liquid, wherein the charge control agent contains a pyrone compound expressed by a general formula (I). In the general formula (I), Rto Reach are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group, a phenyl group, or a fluoroalkyl group. Adjacent pairs among the Rto Rmay be bonded to each other to form a ring. |
