A polyamide modified by a compound including at least one hydroxyl group, as well as to a method for preparing such a polyamide, and articles obtained from such a polyamide are described. A polyamide modified by a compound comprising at least one aromatic hydroxyl group and chemically bonded to the polymer chain, obtained by the polymerisation of polyamide monomers with at least one difunctional hydroxyaromatic compound in which both functions can react with an amino function is also described.
