Disclosed is a carbon membrane structure (100A) which comprises: a cylindrical porous supporting body (1) that is provided with a plurality of cells (2), each of which extends from one end face (11) to the other end face (12) and forms a channel for a fluid; and a carbon membrane (10) that is arranged on the surfaces of the cells (2) that are formed in the porous supporting body (1). The plurality of cells (2) are formed so that respective distances (L) from one cell (2a) to another cells (2b) that are adjacent to the cell (2a) in a cross section perpendicular to the extending direction of the cells (2) of the porous supporting body (1) are 0.60 mm or more. The carbon membrane structure (100A) has extremely excellent separation performance by the carbon membrane.
