A plugged honeycomb structure 20 for diesel particulate filter, formed by integrally bonding, via bonding material layers 3, a plurality of honeycomb segments 1 each having a plurality of cells 5 (surrounded by porous partition walls 6 and functioning as a flow path), in which honeycomb segments each two adjacent cells are plugged at either one end face of honeycomb segment in a such way that one of the cells is plugged at one end face of honeycomb segment and the other cell is plugged at other end face of honeycomb segment, wherein a cut-away portion 2 composed of one entire honeycomb segment is formed at the periphery of the inlet side end face of the plugged honeycomb structure, and bonding material layers 3 which bond a short segment 1a (forming the cut-away portion 2) with long segments 1b adjacent to the short segment 1a, are continuously present, with their thicknesses gradually being reduced, from the inlet side end face 11a of short segment 1a to the inlet side end face 11b of long segments 1b. |
