A sound reproduction system 10 reproduces audio signals from digitally encoded music files on a separate computer 20. The sound reproduction system has audio signal processing circuitry 14 for processing audio signals and a speaker 18 for producing audible sound from the processed audio signals. Control circuitry 16 controls the audio processing circuitry, and a connector 49,51,66 connects the sound reproduction system directly to the separate computer in use. The connector includes a first signal path 50,64 connected and carrying in use control signals to the control circuitry and a second signal path 62,68 connected to the audio signal processing circuitry. A remote control device 17 transmits remote commands to the control circuitry and is capable of producing a first control signal that is received at the control circuitry and controls operation of the sound reproduction device, and a second control signal that is received at the control circuitry and is passed by said control circuitry through said first signal path to the separate computer to control the selection of said digitally encoded music files for reproduction through said second signal path. |
