The washer/extractor (10, Figure 1) has a one-piece plastic water hose connecting fitting (11, Figure 1) having a base plate 20 and a tubular hose connection portion 22. The connection portion defines a passageway communicating between a connected hose (18, Figure 1) and an opening 40 in the wall (21, Figure 1) to which the fitting is mounted. At least one clamping member 30 is disposed in spaced relation to a rear side of the base plate. The wash tub wall opening 40 has a key hole configuration which enables the clamping member of the fitting to be positioned into the opening in a first position of the base plate and upon rotation to a second position locates the clamping member behind a mounting portion 41 of the wall. A fastener (48, Figure 2) connects the base plate and clamping member for securely retaining the connecting fitting, with the wall mounting portion 41 in secure interposed relation between the clamping member and the base plate. An alternative connecting fitting and method of mounting it in a washer/extractor includes a pair of clamping members with clamping arms.
