The method involves supplying primary air (2a), secondary air (2b) and fluidization air (20) via a separate delivery system. The primary air and/or secondary air are pre-heated before entering into a fluidized bed kettle. The fluidization air is pre-heated using air pre-heaters (11, 18), where warm necessary for heating the fluidization air is extracted from flue gas (3) in multi-stages. The air pre-heaters are operated in series with a boiler feeding water pre-heater, where one of the heaters (11) is designed as a rotary air pre-heater.
