摘要 The present invention relates to a method for producing an absorbent consisting of a manganese (IV) feroxyhyte (δ-Fe(1-x)MnxOOH) phase, in which 0.05-25 percent of the iron has been isomorphically substituted by manganese atoms. The method is effected in a two-stage, continuous-flow reactor under acidic conditions (pH 4-7) and a high oxidation-reduction potential (300-800 mV). The product may be used in the adsorption of both trivalent and pentavalent arsenic, as well as of other heavy metals from water. In particular, the adsorption capacity and selectivity of the product corresponding to the trivalent and pentavalent arsenic content of water are determined by the manganese content and by the solid or hollow morphology of its structural unit, which can be adjusted by the parameters of the production procedure.
