Dashboard lower panel (19) has a vertical surface (41) extending substantially vertically above slant portions (32) of left and right front side frames (16), and a slant surface (43) slanting from the vertical surface (41) downward and rearwardly. Joint cover (22) is provided on a side of the lower panel (19) adjacent to an engine room (13), a dashboard cross member (23) is provided on a side of the lower panel adjacent to a passenger compartment (12), and the cross member includes separate left and right cross members (61, 62) connected to the left and right, respectively, of the joint cover with the lower panel sandwiched therebetween. Closed section (171) is defined by a bent portion (142) of the lower panel and the cross member, and a raised portion (145) of the lower panel and an annular portion (155) of the cross member overlap with each other.
