There is provided a method of bonding a condensing lens (20) to an optical package (1) containing an optical element (3) therein. The method includes: (a) providing a thermoplastic resin (30,36,38) between a bonding surface (4) of the optical package and a bonding surface (21) of the condensing lens; and (b) adjusting a distance between the bonding surface of the optical package and the bonding surface of the condensing lens by heating the thermoplastic resin to melt the thermoplastic resin while pressing one of the optical package and the lens toward the other or pressing both the optical package and the lens toward each other.
