A device and a method for allowing appropriate shading correction when a radiographic image of a subject is taken using a radiation detector are disclosed. A shading correction data obtaining unit (42) obtains, in advance, first shading correction data (H1) for shading attributed to a radiation source (14) and second shading correction data (H2A, H2B) for shading attributed to a FPD (22A, 22B) of a cassette (20A, 20B), and the obtained shading correction data are stored in a storage unit (38). During imaging using the cassette (20A) , for example, a detection unit (40) detects the orientation of the FPD (22A), and an image processing unit (34) rotates the first shading correction data (H1) relative to the second shading correction data (H2A, H2B) based on the detected orientation to generate final shading correction data (H0) .
