Class 38 (1) [Also in Group XI] An electric lighting fitting for mounting from the front in a hole in panelling, such as vehicle interiors, comprises two parts 14, 26 connected by bolts 28, the first part 14 having radial projections 16 arranged to pass through notches in the edge of the hole and to bear on the rear face of the panelling when turned out of register with the notches, and the second part 26 being arranged to engage the front face of the panelling so that on tightening of the bolts 28 the edge of the hole is clamped between the two parts 14, 26. As shown the part 14 comprises a circular plate apertured to receive a lamp cap and bolted to an insulating lamp cap receiving body 10 having the usual metal lined bayonet connection socket. The rear of the body 10 carries contacts 17, 18 with associated binding posts 19, 21 which support an insulating back plate 22. The projections 16 of the plate 14, which are equally spaced about the periphery of the plate, are bent forwardly so that their ends lie on a circle larger than the plate. The second part 26 comprises a round faced flange of a sleeve 24 arranged to lie within the panelling hole between the projections 16, the inner face of the sleeve being shaped to form a spherical reflector 27 merging with the rounded face of the flange 26. The connecting bolts 28 are received in tapped holes in the plate 14 and may be transversely drilled at their ends to receive retaining pins. To ensure that the plate 14 is turned with projections 16 out of register with the hole notches during assembly, and also to prevent rotation of the reflector part 26, a lug 31 is formed on the reflector sleeve 24 to engage in one of the hole notches. |
