A system and method for assessing urinary function is provided. The system includes a processor (102), a tubing assembly (1004) forming a first fluid (1010) conduit between a first fluid inlet (1006) and a first fluid outlet (1008), and an inset member (1008) having a channel therethrough and coupled to the first fluid outlet (1008) so that fluid flowing through the first fluid conduit (1010) may flow through the inset member (1108). The inset member (1108) is dimensioned for at least partial insertion into a patient's urethral canal (1302) distal of the patient's urethral sphictor (1322), and dimensioned so that, when inseted, it substantially blocks fluid flow into or out of the urethral channel (1302) other than through the inset member (1108) channel. The system further includes a fluid delivery device (1040) electrically coupled to and controlled by the processor (102), and coupled to the first fluid conduit (1008) for pumping fluid therethrough, and a pressure detection system for detecting pressure within the urethral canal (1302) of the urethral spinter (1322) and providing information correlating to the detected pressure to the processor (120).
