A safety system for a vehicle, a remote transmitter, a controller, and a method of operating a safety system for a vehicle is disclosed. The safety system includes: a controller mounted to a vehicle and configured to act upon the vehicle; and a plurality of remote transmitters, where each transmitter is configured to send a signal to the controller. The plurality of transmitters are configured to be operative on the controller when in a primary safety zone, and communicative with the other remote transmitters when in a secondary safety zone. Each safety zone approximates a circle where the vehicle carrying the controller is located at the centre of the primary and secondary the circles.
