PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a swellable particle. SOLUTION: The method contains mixing an initial particle, at least one monomer, at least one initiator, and at least one chain transfer agent. The mixing is conducted under the condition that the monomer can form an oligomer, a polymer or a mixture thereof. There is also provided the swellable particle prepared by the method. Further there is provided a method for manufacturing a polymer resin particle, including: mixing at least one subsequent monomer and the swellable particle; and polymerizing the subsequent monomer.
