PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom endoscope capable of being smoothly driven to zoom without receiving adverse effects from steam on a zoom driving motor in autoclave treatment and without generating rotation resistance in a zoom driving wire when the endoscope is in normal use. SOLUTION: The zoom endoscope 1 includes a lid driving means 28 for drawing an opening lid 24 close to an opening 23 of a housing 21 when the zoom endoscope 1 is not connected to a power supply, and for extruding the opening lid 24 from the opening 23 when the electric power is fed to the zoom driving motor 14. While the opening lid 24 is extruded, a plug 18 is detached from a wire passing hole 26 formed in the opening lid 24, and the rotation resistance is not applied to the zoom driving wire 15. While the opening lid 24 is drawn to the opening 23, the wire passing hole 26 is sealed with the plug 18, and the opening 23 is sealed with the opening lid 24. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
