PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange device which can prevent scale deposition onto an anion exchange resin in a column, can surely prevent an anion-exchange resin and a cation-exchange resin from being reversely regenerated, and can stably produce deionized water of high water quality even immediately after regeneration, and a column for the ion exchange device. SOLUTION: After raw water containing hardness components is passed through a hardness component removing means 1 to remove the hardness components, the water is supplied to an ion exchange column 2 to be brought into contact with the anion-exchange resin 31, then to be brought into contact with the cation-exchange resin 21. The inside of the ion exchange column 2 is divided into upper and lower two chambers by an impervious partition plate 2a, and the water brought into contact with the anion-exchange resin 31 in the lower chamber is passed through external piping and then introduced into the upper chamber.
